Carter has been such a good big brother from day one with Keaton. If he hears Keaton cry, it’s not out of the norm for me to hear “I’ve got him Mom!” and then see him rush to Keaton, locate the pacifier and gently hush him as he gives it to Keaton “It’s okay, Keaton. Here, Keaton.” He watches my ever move and knows just how to sooth him – most of the time.
Tonight, after an incredible taxing day with #3, I yelled downstairs to Carter to bring up the pacifier ASAP while Keaton was screaming as I tried to calm him to sleep. Carter rushed up, and holding the pacifier just right so as to not touch the part that goes into Keaton’s mouth, saved the day. He then crawled up on the bed next to us to watch my handiwork.
Me: I love you, Carter.
Carter: I love you too, Mom! I love you THIS (he stands up on the bed and stretches his arms out) much!
Me: I love you to the moon and back!
Carter: I love you to the sunshine and back all the way to the carpet downstairs, through the floor to the part that only workers are allowed to go (the crawlspace)!
Could I be more blessed?
Now THAT is what it is all about! I love you all to the sunshine and back!
