Chris and I just completed the Advocare 10-day cleanse. Ok. Not really “completed” since tomorrow is day 10 and we had a hot dog and chips today with birthday cake, but well… we did the Advocare 8.75 day cleanse.
This is not a cleanse that involves fasting. There is no way I could do that. I mean, I could, but I don’t know that I would have 3 children by the end of the cleanse. I’m not a happy camper when I’m hungry and have very little patience. This cleanse involves fiber drinks (don’t worry, you won’t be running to the bathroom every 5 minutes except maybe to pee from all the water you are drinking), some vitamins, and cleaner eating. I say cleaner, because I don’t know that it necessarily fits the definition of clean eating. I’m not an expert. Also, we only did the cleanse piece. We did not buy any extra pills or catalyst or anything that did not come in the box.
We basically cut out all sugar and any processed grains or starches, we also ate only chicken and lean turkey. The instructions said nothing about dairy, but everyone online was referencing no dairy or caffeine so, we limited both. I think I went from a latte a day to three in 8 days. I’m only human.
Although we did not do the cleanse to lose weight, it is one benefit/side effect mentioned and I lost 5 pounds in the 8 days. I did notice a difference in my energy level even though it was still low due to lack of sleep and being a mom to three crazy boys, I just felt better overall. I rolled my eyes when I was told that my skin would be nice too, but you know what? About day 4-5 my skin felt amazing! It honestly felt like I had just had a facial. I would definitely consider doing the cleanse again. They suggest at least 90 days between cleanses.
So, there you have it. My thoughts on the 10 day cleanse.
